Jakarta, 28 January 2026 - The year 2026 is projected to become a crucial period for organizations in Indonesia. Geopolitical uncertainty, global economic pressures, and the acceleration of technological disruption are driving risk to become a determining factor in strategic decision-making and the direction of organizational leadership.
Responding to these dynamics, Veda Praxis together with DIGITS Universitas Padjadjaran released the 2026 Business Risk Management Study: Dynamics, Strategy, and Organizational Resilience Amid Uncertainty. This study identifies strategic risks shaping cross-sector management agendas while mapping the level of readiness of organizations in Indonesia in facing an increasingly complex and interconnected risk landscape.
“The future of organizations, and the future of Indonesia, is not determined by how advanced the technology is, but by how mature we are in managing risks, building governance, and maintaining trust,” said Syahraki Syahrir, CEO & Partner of Veda Praxis.
As part of the dissemination of the research findings, Veda Praxis and DIGITS organized the webinar Future-Proofing Organizations: Risk Outlook 2026 on 28 January 2026. The webinar featured practitioners and academics from various disciplines, namely Syahraki Syahrir; Hamzah Ritchi (Director of DIGITS Unpad, Research Partner of Veda Praxis, and Chair of the Information Systems Lecturers Forum of the Indonesian Institute of Accountants – Educator Compartment); Anjar Priandoyo (Research & Education Director of ISACA Indonesia Chapter); Anak Agung Gde (Representative of the Indonesian Institute of Accountants – Educator Compartment); Tiara Faradilla Pong (AGRC Advisory and Business Continuity Management Expert of Veda Praxis); as well as Saskia Salmana (Research Team of DIGITS Unpad, Lecturer at Universitas Padjadjaran).
The research results show that macroeconomic pressures and global instability have now become the main strategic risks across various sectors. However, this research also highlights significant internal challenges. Around 80% of management in Indonesia assess that risk management has not yet been fully internalized within organizational culture, although the level of risk awareness continues to increase.
“The biggest challenge of strategic risk does not lie in the uncertainty itself, but in the limitations of organizations in translating that uncertainty into risk-aware and long-term oriented strategic decisions,” said Anak Agung Gde.
In line with these findings, the webinar discussion emphasized the importance of concrete steps to close the gaps in risk management. “The future challenge of risk management is not merely about having a framework, but also governance maturity and cross-line integration. Governance clarity is needed to affirm who acts as the risk owner, who performs the oversight function, and who carries out the audit function,” said Hamzah Ritchi.
Through the publication of this study and the organization of this webinar, Veda Praxis and DIGITS encourage organizations in Indonesia to move forward in risk management, beyond mere compliance and risk awareness. Amid uncertainty that is increasingly becoming the norm, strengthening risk management as an integral part of strategy, governance, and organizational culture is viewed as a key foundation in building resilience and maintaining long-term competitiveness.
